We prioritize educational initiatives aimed at enhancing digital literacy among children, young people, parents, and educators. Our accessible resources cover topics such as online safety, privacy, cyber-bullying prevention, misinformation, hate speech, and fostering responsible digital citizenship.

Focus Areas:

The program focuses on educating and building capacities around eight prevalent online harms. OSFU provides guidance on reporting these harms through specific platform channels:

  • Threats
  • Impersonation
  • Bullying & Harassment
  • Self-harm or Suicide
  • Online Abuse
  • Misinformation
  • Violent Content
  • Unwanted Sexual Advances
  • Pornographic Content

Target Areas: The program spans across over 25 Districts, including but not limited to Koboko, Buikwe, mukono , masaka Gomba, Kampala, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Wakiso, Arua, Kitgum, Iganga, Mbale, and Kapchorwa.

Programme Objective

Online Safety Foundation Uganda (OSFU) endeavors to collaborate with stakeholders to cultivate a secure online environment for children, young people, and adults. The Digital Literacy and Education Program constitutes a pivotal aspect of OSFU’s strategic plan (2024-2029), aiming to bolster community awareness, rights, and responsibilities concerning online safety.

Programme Goal

The primary objective of the Digital Literacy and Education Program is to empower communities at the grassroots level, ensuring comprehensive knowledge, active participation, adept navigation, and advocacy for online safety rights. OSFU aims to equip individuals—rights holders and duty bearers alike—to effectively promote secure online content for children, parents, and educators. This involves fostering awareness, empowering vulnerable communities to voice concerns, and fostering locally-driven initiatives to safeguard online spaces from harmful content.
